Episode 23: Gloria Miguens on working as a Hospice Chaplain in Argentina

On this week’s episode, the hosts of the hospice chaplaincy show zoom into Argentina to talk with Gloria Miguens.

Gloria Miguens is an author of an end of life book written in Spanish called “ACOMPAÑANDO EN EL ADIOS.” She is also an end of life spiritual care specialist and educator in Argentina. Currently, hospice care programs are developing throughout the country and Gloria works for one of the first hospice agencies in Argentina.

Gloria is also a trained reflexologist and occasionally works with patients with multiple sclerosis and street children in Argentina.  Her calling to hospice ministry came after the death of her 18-year-old niece with brain hemorrhage.

Hospice Chaplaincy is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting excellence in spiritual care at the end of life. We are committed to the belief that people from all backgrounds, cultures and faith traditions should experience the end of life in a way that matches their own spiritual/religious values and goals. The task of dying is complicated and often confronts us with lots of spiritual, emotional and physical suffering. Hospice Chaplaincy is dedicated to providing support and professional development resources for hospice chaplains, patient advocacy, and education services to the public, to create a cultural shift to inform and transform our thinking around the psychosocial and psychospiritual issues at the end of life .
